On NYE, we drove up to Lake Havasu City for the day to spend some time with my momma and my oldest son Spencer. Spencer is deaf, disabled, and cognitively ranges from 2 to 26 depending on the task, day, and of course, his mood. Spencer loves to take photos of anything and EVERYTHING. I am quite photogenic and usually don't let anyone catch me off guard but he takes pictures constantly and I don't care because he doesn't post them anywhere to be seen. I didn't take an official "BEFORE" picture when I started this journey because I was too embarrassed and unhappy with myself to do so. *sigh* Well, thanks to Spencer, there is a picture shortly after I started. We were there for his birthday in the beginning of July and he managed to capture this delightful gem...
Sorry if this offends anyone as fat as I was, but I FREAKIN' LOOK LIKE JABBA THE HUTT! I have already cried for THAT girl while sending this from my phone to my computer to upload here.
Incidentally, my son Christian just walked up behind me right now while I'm writing this and said, "WHOAAAAA! YOU WERE HUGE!" Again, sigh. Yes, yes I was.
This is me today....
I still have a long way to go but ... I've sure come a long way!
I said it recently on my Facebook page and I'll say it here too. If you are overweight and you need to improve your health, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't let it get so bad before you get started. I know I went big, made huge changes, and am pushing hard but you can take baby steps or go big too. JUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW!
“Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling but start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are, with what you have. Just... start.” - Ijeoma Umebinyuo
