The City of Maricopa and Copper Sky hosted a fabulous awards potluck for the Weight Loss Challenge competitors and their supporters last Saturday, March 3rd. I posted previously in an update that I had applied to be a grand prize winner based on my overall, incredible weight loss journey...so far. Victor Moreno, a local photographer, was there to capture some fantastic pictures of the event. Here is what it looked like:
Originally, there were to be five grand prize winners. Instead, every applicant was named a grand prize winner and we each received a Crock Pot, a one month membership, and a followup photoshoot with Victor.
Alan competed in the challenge as well and has done fabulous. He didn't apply to be a grand prize winner but he did place in the Tier 2 category and received some small prizes of his own. Sheilynn went with us and the boys joined us after they got off work. My family has been extremely supportive since I started this journey and for that, I am most grateful.
(Apparently I found something extra amusing. UGH, look at all the loose skin in my face and neck now that it's not so fat. )
One of my fabulous class partners and I were definitely caught off guard here, but I'll throw this picture in for your entertainment.
We normally look something more like this:
Most of the entire group has continued to support one another even though the challenge has ended. Many friendships were made and much encouragement has been shared along the way. I am so glad this is my path right now. I am so glad to be on this journey and so thankful that there are so many wonderful people sharing it with me.
I am a lucky girl.
People often ask "What can I do to help?" This....this is really all you can do:
