I have continued to transform my body and have grown stronger and leaner...slowly but surely. I started this challenge fairly gung ho but...have dialed back my gym game some and have become a little loose in my food choices from time to time. (Eating more than 20g of carbs a day now and then, nothing horrible like soda, cake, cookies, candy, etc.)
I did lose 21 (more) pounds in the last twelve weeks. The pound loss has definitely slowed down these last couple of months but I can't be mad at 1.75 pounds a week. April 5th was 10 full months of living a much healthier lifestyle and intentionally redesigning my body.
I know I could have done better though. Looking back now, and looking at others transformations, I wish I would have. While I have tried to throw my fat brain out of the car completely, she still likes to drive from time to time. Saying things like, "You're still doing great, it's ok if you take an extra day off." Or, "You're way more active than you use to be, it's ok to call it quits for the day." While at a dinner party the other night it was, "Just try a little of everything, you'll work it off in the gym." While these destructive things are much nicer than they use to be, it is still sabotaging what I'm trying to accomplish. BUT, at least I'm no longer trying to convince myself I'm nothing but a big, fat failure.
So, skin warning.... here are some 12 week comparison shots. Keep in mind, this is only 21 pounds difference so you really have to look for the "improvements." I'll tell you where I can see them. Hopefully, they are noticeable to others as well.
(Exact same swimsuit.)
Let's talk front, top to bottom...
-My face seems to be even thinner/tighter in the cheek area. I'm bummed my hair wasn't up in the "before" pics so I can't really critique my neck and traps.
-My décolletage is definitely tighter and my boobs are fighting back gravity.
-My side/waist is slimmer. It makes the transition to my hip and bum smoother.
-My thighs are significantly smaller and smoother. More noticeable on the left side of the picture. The weight over the top of my knee has been very stubborn and I'm looking forward to this backing off. The skin is much looser and getting wrinkly, more noticeable in the right side of the picture.
-My lower legs are tapering a little better but this continues to be one of my biggest issues. F*$%ING LYMPHEDEMA!
It's hard to look at these and feel fabulous about my 12 weeks of work because I'm still huge. BUT, I am less huge and that's the whole point. *sigh*
-Again, the improvement in my chest is even more noticeable from this angle. I have had to tighten my straps a couple of times as the "girls" are smaller, tighter, more north, etc.
-You can tell how much looser the extra skin is in my arm. It's hanging much different than it was 20 pounds ago. It makes it look smaller but uglier at the same time. BLAH!
-My gut is much improved. I have been killing core/abs in the gym lately. I'm loving the improvement here. It's probably my favorite thing about the last 12 weeks. I have abs in there somewhere.
-The only difference I can really see back here is, in general, being a little smaller and smoother in some areas.
My friend Lindsey sent me this little gem the other day. GAH! How was I even functioning? Imagine how hard my poor body and organs were working to just keep me alive. I am so glad THAT is not me anymore. So, all progress is good progress but I'm ready to put in some extra work and to take it up a notch.
